I got my start in public advocacy after surviving a sexual assault in college, which provided me a deep understanding of the hardships that survivors in Florida endure while seeking justice and healing for themselves. Although it was the most difficult experience of my life, it led me to connect with many other survivors, and I made a promise to them several years ago that I would dedicate my career to making our state a better, safer place for survivors of domestic and sexual violence. Fulfilling that promise to them is what has driven me to seek public office.
Being born and raised in House District 98, I have a strong understanding of the region and our local communities’ needs. Additionally, my experience working in the Florida Senate under State Senator Shevrin Jones (D) provided me with the skills, knowledge, and relationships needed to effectively advocate for my constituents in Tallahassee, pass meaningful legislation, and bring state dollars back home to our cities. As the only woman in the race, I offer voters a strong voice on one of the most important issues in our state: Abortion. And as a survivor, my personal story resonates with many voters who agree that the state must do better for victims. If elected, I would be the first Gen-Z State Representative from Broward County and the only latina member of the Broward legislative delegation.
